CHICKEN WIRE, WEEDS, LINEN, SWEAT, ribbons, christmas lights, spray paint, CHURCH DETRITIS, 2023-2025

Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of creating artworks for the Unitarian Church of Marlborough and Hudson. Working closely with the church’s minister, my goal was to create living artifacts that held the collective memory of the congregation. Many of these works are informed by aspects of ritual — a 10-foot-tall green woman constructed of native moss and plant cuttings was used as a maypole at the church’s annual Beltane service, welcoming the return of the light and affirming the faith’s connection to the natural world.

A giant kaleidoscope invited parishioners to contemplate the church’s historic stained glass windows from a new perspective. The kaleidoscope's internal chamber was filled with artifacts of worship—grains of sand, remnants of candle wax, and mermaid glass sourced from significant past services.

A twelve-foot illuminated angel offered hope and protection during the holiday season, and big ol’ rainbow heart thumped out messages of love and pride to everyone who happened to walk down Main Street.

The rainbow driveway, completed in 2024, has become a whimsical meeting place for folks of all ages, and was created with the help of a team of congregants to honor the church’s long-held history of inclusion and social justice work.
